Name of Assignment: Logo Design Subject: Geometry Facilitator/Teacher: Ms. Marsh Description of Work/Assignment: For this assignment we had to make a logo for our "company" using our name or nickname. We had to make the letters out of angle, line segments, rays, points, planes, etc.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? : I feel like this was a project that addresses the thinking and problem solving 21st century skill. The definition of thinking and problem solving is "Students will demonstrate thinking and problem solving in all curricular areas through projects, application of the scientific method, higher order math skills, and literary analysis." I had to try to make the measurements of the angles as accurate as I could. I also had to plan ahead on how big the letters should be or if I could fit in all the required line segments, angles, etc.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? : The thing I am most proud of from this assignment is the facts that I was able to fit all the requirements on the first try and on top of that I still didn't really understand the topic but; I was still able to finish the assignment on time.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment? : I improved on my 21st century skill by using my thinking and problem solving skills to help me refresh my knowledge on angles, line segments, rays, etc. by looking through my notes and some researching.
What was most difficult about completing this task? : One of the most difficult things was trying to make those angles as accurate as I could. But, if I were to pick one thing that was the most difficult, I would say it was having to find certain rays and angles in my name or nickname.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different? : I could improve this project by making it look neater and show that I took more time and effort into making the final product. If I could start over, something I would differently is not procrastinate. To be honest, I did this project the night before it was due. I put other homework before this project and just putting it off until last minute.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? : This relates to the time I learned that procrastinating is just being lazy, putting off work, and that it gets you no where towards your goal or in this case getting the assignment done. How can you apply this to future learning? : I can apply this to the future in many ways. I can use it for future project and homework even. I can teach my kids about this (procrastinating) in the future.
