Name of Assignment: Decade Project Slideshow Subject: Humanities Facilitator/Teacher: Mr. Goring
Description of Work/Assignment: For this assignment we had to create a slideshow on a decade that we chose. I chose to do 1980s. After finishing the slideshow, we had to do a presentation that would last 20-30 minutes long.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? : I feel like this was a project that addresses the Global Awareness 21st century skill. I had to research all about the 1980s and because we had to do a whole presentation, I tried to really understand how it was during that time so that if there were any extra questions, I would be able to answer them.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? : The thing I am most proud of from this assignment is that I was able to get a little more than 20 minutes of time presenting my whole slideshow without any notecards.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment? : I developed my 21st century skill by using the internet to research and learn all about the 1980's. I was also able to talk to my teacher and get some extra information on the 1980s. I got a good grasp and understanding of the 1980s like, their fashion back then, electronics, famous movies, celebrities, etc.
What was most difficult about completing this task? : One of the most difficult things trying to stay calm while presenting. The thing that was mostly on my mind was if I stuttered a lot or if I would be able to make the time that we need to pass for a good grade.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different? : I could improve this project by practicing more on what I want to say while presenting. I also need to try to stop fidgeting while presenting.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? : This relates to almost every time I have to present something. I always end up either talking to fast, stuttering, or fidgeting with my hands.
How can you apply this to future learning? : I can apply this to the future by putting my hands into my pockets or holding them together to prevent me from fidgeting with them.
