Name of Assignment: Newton's Cradle Lab Subject: Physics Facilitator/Teacher: Ms. Hayes
The assignment I’d like to talk about is the Newton's Cradle Lab we did in Physics. We were in pairs and my partner was Shayne so we had lots of fun. Our assignment was to first research a way to create a Newton's Cradle. We had to write in our lab notebook things like: materials needed, steps how to create the cradle, the physics behind it, and what we would do differently for our cradle to be better than it came out.
The 21st Century Skill this assignment addresses is Interpersonal Skills. I say this because I worked well in a partnership. We worked well with each other with both before and during the making of the cradle. We planned to both research things so that we would get work done faster, and it worked. We also worked so smoothly while we made the Newton's Cradle.
I am most proud of the way Shayne and I worked together. We really did things in a time efficient and productive way. In the planning before making the cradle, we were ahead and finished early because we worked hard and communicated with each other well. During the project, we were able to trust each other to do separate tasks for the making of the cradle.
The most difficult thing about completing this task was trying to get all the marbles to line up all at the same height. This was important so that the marbles could hit each other at the right space with the right power so it could work well.
I could improve by maybe getting the right kind of marbles next time. We thought that these marble pebbles would work but they didn't and it took up a lot of our time. We ended up borrowing some extra marbles from a classmate which was nice of them.
