Name of Assignment: Unit 2 Test Subject: Algebra 2 Facilitator/Teacher: Ms. S
Description of Work/Assignment: This was a unit test for our 2nd unit into Algebra 2. We had about a week to study for this test. There were 35 points in total (Not including the bonus points).
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why? I feel like this assignment addresses the thinking and problem solving 21st century skill. This skill demonstrates thinking and problem solving in all curricular areas through projects, application of the scientific method, higher order math skills, and literary analysis. For this test, I had to do a lot of studying which for me, required higher order math skills.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why? The thing that I am most proud of from this test was the result. I got a 34/35 on the unit 2 test. The reason why I am most proud of this is because it was a score I never thought I would get. When I was studying, I barely understood a lot of the lessons. I spent hours watching videos and learning each lesson to get a better understanding of each one.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment? I improved my 21st Century skill mostly again, while I was studying. To me, it really seemed like higher order math skills. When I first started studying with the study guide, I wanted to see how much I knew from the top of my mind. After doing some questions and comparing them to the study guide answers. I saw that I wasn’t understanding some things well. After learning that, I tried my best to relearn all the lessons I wasn’t understanding well.
What was most difficult about completing this task? The thing that was most difficult with this task was re-learning a lot of lessons. I mostly learned through the videos that Ms.S made. I just thought that learning about the lesson online was tiring and can be distracting. I also did all of this at home which has distractions alone.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently? I could improve this method by also asking more questions in class or in school in general. I feel like if I asked more questions then, I would get a better understanding of the lesson. I could’ve also watched the lessons and learned about it from the videos Ms.S made, but I could’ve watched most of them at school instead of watching all of them at home.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? This relates to almost every time I didn’t understand something in a class. It also happens at home sometimes. In class, when I don’t understand something I always fail to ask questions. I don’t want to slow down the class or anything. I usually try to make sense of it myself or if that doesn’t work then I look for videos. I guess I’m just really independent and scared to ask people for help.
How can you apply this to future learning? I can apply this to future learning by telling myself that it wouldn’t hurt to ask a few questions. Or maybe if it’s just one question, I feel like it would help a lot. I can also tell myself that there are some classmates that are really strong in that specific subject that I’m having trouble with and ask them for help as well. I will definitely ask more questions and be more aware of how to stay on task with distractions present in the future.
