Name of Assignment: Egg Drop Lab Subject: Physics Facilitator/Teacher: Ms. Hayes
The assignment I’d like to talk about is the Egg Lab we did in Physics. We were in pairs and my partner was Shayne so we had lots of fun. Our assignment was to first research a way to create a way to make something that will protect an egg from breaking in a drop. We had to write in our lab notebook things like: materials needed, steps how to create the cradle, the physics behind it, and a free body diagram.
The 21st Century Skill this assignment addresses is Thinking and Problem Solving Skills. I say this because we had to figure out and think of a product that would protect our egg from the impact. We had some mishaps with the making of our product and we had to use our problem solving skills to try and fix them.
I am most proud of the way Shayne and I worked together. We really did things in a time efficient and productive way. We split up the responsibilities with the making of the product. One person would mix certain things, the other lets the person know what to put and reads aloud the steps. We also communicated well when it came to finding supplies that were needed to complete this lab.
The most difficult thing about completing this task was when our slime didn't turn into slime. We tried many ways to make our slime but things wouldn't work. We used all the laundry detergent we brought and even tried water to mix it in. These solutions did not work.
I could improve by putting less shaving cream into the mix of ingredients for the slime. We believe that it was the amount of shaving cream that was mixed that cause the slime to be hard to turn into actual slime. We should have searched up specific amounts of shaving cream to put into the mix.
